How to Beat the Heat

Summer is official here! Hooorah!

When we think about summer, we imagine beaches, being poolside, picnics, and a lot of outdoor activities!

The scorching summer heat can be hard on our bodies, our moods, and our electric bills. Don’t let the temperature get you down, though. Earth loving yogis may enjoy the warm sunshine on bare skin and look forward to spending the weekend playing outside. But no matter how much you enjoy the warmer months, everyone needs ways to cool down when the summer heat rises. There are plenty of ways to find that cool energy and seek cooler experiences without blasting electricity-sucking air conditioning. Here are some tips we can think of to help you balance your hot summer adventures with cool breezy activities even when it feels like the sun is out to get you!

1. Find your perfect hat

Hats. Not everyone is a fan of them, but they sure do come in handy in the summer months. It’s one of the best ways to protect your face.

Even dogs need hats sometimes as you can tell from our pal Thor. Need some hats of your own? Check out the selection over on Toque.ca and HatsandCaps.ca.

2. Stick to lighter weighing t-shirts and tank tops

Pay attention to the weight of the t-shirt! Trust us, it’ll make a difference. In the summer, stick to lighter weight cottons, linens, and rayon. Tri blend fabrics are also another great alternative as well as they tend to be softer combination of polyester, rayon, and cotton. Check out T-Shirt.ca and Blankclothing.ca for options!

3. Stay Hydrated

Drinking water is something that people tend to forget about. Staying hydrated is one of the best ways to prevent heat induced headaches, fatigue, nausea and to prevent heat strokes. It’s 2019, you should already know the drill about reusable beverage containers. Let’s do our part and cut back on plastic and switch to re-usable tumblers and mugs, which you can find a vast selection on Hardgoods.ca
